FAQ

New or old, big or small, no matter the job, we do it all!

Can I Carry Out Small Electrical Jobs In My House Myself?

NO! In Queensland it is illegal for anyone other than a qualified electrician to do any domestic wiring. Even if the work has been done to standard it will not pass certification which is bad news especially if you need to sell the property. It makes sense for safety to engage a qualified electrician to carry out all your household wiring. You not only risk your personal safety but the safety of friends and family members.

When should I have an electrical safety check?

ECA Enterprise recommend you should have an electrical inspection carried out if:
  • You are purchasing a property that has been occupied
  • The property is more than 25 years old
  • If it is more than 5 years since one has been done
  • If you are concerned about how any of the equipment may have been installed

My Light Switch Zaps When Turning On?

The 'zap' is caused by arching in the switch mechanism. Arching light switches can be caused by a number of problems including overloaded circuits. Florescent light fittings can also cause arching if the incorrect switch mechanism is used. Have ECA Enterprise your local Gold Coast electrician check the problem and rectify it if necessary.

I Can Hear A Buzzing Noise From My Electrical Panel, Is That Normal?

Panels should not make any noise. The buzzing noise is likely because one or more than one breaker is not making a good contact with the panel busbar. The connection point will eventually burn and that space cannot be reused for replacement breaker. You should have your panel inspected by an electrician as soon as possible.
